FlakPhoto Midwest Print Show opens September 26

Join us for an evening of photography in Madison, Wisconsin

Hi All

Touching base about a new photography project...

Since launching FlakPhoto 8 years ago my goal has always been to build a better website. But I've been thinking about prints a lot lately — and how vital they are for we who love photography. The Society for Photographic Education Midwest Conference is happening in here, in Madison, Wisconsin, in October so it's the perfect occasion for a print exhibition focused on Midwestern photography.

Nearly 500 photographers responded to my call for submissions — There is an incredible amount of talent here and I'm thrilled to present some of it in Wisconsin this Fall. The FlakPhoto Midwest Print Show features works from 41 Midwest photographers. They are:

Adam J. Long (Missouri) • Alan Thomas (Illinois) • Amiko Li (Illinois) • Annick Sjobakken (Iowa) • Barrett Emke (Kansas) • Bradley Peters (Nebraska) • Bryan Steiff (Illinois) • Carl Corey (Wisconsin) • Christine Carr (Iowa) • Clarissa Bonet (Illinois) • Daniel Coburn (Kansas) • Dave Jordano (Illinois) • Dennis Dufer (Missouri) • Elisabeth Hogeman (Illinois) • Elise Kirk (Missouri) • Garie Waltzer (Ohio) • James Luckett (Ohio) • Jason Vaughn (Wisconsin) • Jeff Rich (Iowa) • Jenn Ackerman & Tim Gruber (Minnesota) • Jennifer Greenburg (Illinois) • Jon Horvath (Wisconsin) • Julie Renée Jones (Ohio) • Kai Caemmerer (Illinois) • Keith Taylor (Minnesota) • Lara Shipley (Missouri) • Mat Brutger (Minnesota) • Melissa Stallard (Ohio) • Mike Rebholz (Wisconsin) • Mike Sinclair (Missouri) • Miranda Brandon (Minnesota) • Noah Addis (Ohio) • Peter Baker (Michigan) • Peter Latner (Minnesota) • Philip Heying (Kansas) • Selma Fernandez Richter (Minnesota) • Sonja Thomsen (Wisconsin) • T. Maxwell Wagner (Kansas) • Virgil DiBiase (Indiana) • Walker Pickering (Nebraska)

My aim here is two-fold: to highlight the diversity of photographers living and working here in the Midwest and to provide a place for Midwestern photo people to share their passion for pictures together. The FlakPhoto Midwest Print Show will be on view at the Madison Public Library September 26 - October 30, 2014. We're kicking things off with an opening party on Friday, September 26 at the Diane Endres Ballweg Gallery in the Madison Public Library. I hope you'll join us.

Please share with friends, students and colleagues who would enjoy. Questions? Email me anytime. See you soon!

Best,
