Allison V. Smith has been a fine art and freelance editorial photographer since 2004 when she left her staff photography position at the Dallas Morning News. After graduating from SMU in 1993 with a degree in journalism, she worked for 7 different newspapers over a 15 year period. Smith's clients include: The New York Times, Garden & Gun Magazine, Texas Monthly , Johnson & Johnson, University of Southern California . Smith was recently commissioned by the Nasher Sculpture Center to document their 10th anniversary. The 150 page photography book of photos documenting the project will be published in 2014. Her fine art projects include exploring the landscape and personality of Marfa, Texas and the Maine coast. Smith is in the permanent collection at the Dallas Museum of Art, Museum of Fine Arts in Houston and the Savannah College of Art and Design in Atlanta. She is represented by Barry Whistler Gallery in Dallas and Hiram Butler Gallery in Houston. In addition to photography, Smith and her mother published a book of Stanley Marcus's photography in 2008 titled Reflection of a Man, the photographs of Stanley Marcus.
