Céline Clanet was born and raised in the French Alps. After studying at the Ecole Nationale de la Photographie, Arles, she now lives in Paris. Her work explores the peculiar bonds between memory, identity and human territory. Since 2005 she has been traveling to European Arctic and Norwegian Lapland, and often settled in the Sámi village of Máze. The Máze series won the Critical Mass Award in 2009 and has been published and exhibited internationally. In 2010, she was assigned an important work about hydroelectric dams in the French Alps, which led to the publication of a monograph and several shows. Her work is featured in several private and public collections, including the Société Française de Photographie, the Portland Art Musem, and the Archives Départementales de Savoie. Céline has published three books: Du Torrent au Courant (Actes-Sud, 2011), Máze (Photolucida), 2010) and Un Mince Vernis de Réalité (Filigranes, 2005).
