A lifelong resident of the American south, Chuck Hemard was born in New Orleans, raised in south Mississippi, studied in Georgia and now works in Alabama. His current work explores ideas of place and the interaction between humans, time, and the contemporary landscape. Hemard’s work has been exhibited nationally and throughout the Southeastern U.S. including the Museum of Contemporary Art of Georgia in Atlanta, Opal Gallery in Atlanta, the Ogden Museum of Southern Art in New Orleans, Louisiana as well as at the Columbus Museum in Columbus, Georgia. His work is in public collections throughout the region including the Ogden Museum in New Orleans, the Georgia Museum of Art in Athens, Georgia and the Lauren Rogers Museum of Art in Laurel, Missippi among others.
