The start of something new — FlakPhoto Digest.
We’re developing a new project, a weekly newsletter focused on photography + visual culture recommendations carefully curated from across the Web. You know, the good stuff that deserves a closer look. FlakPhoto Digest is currently in closed beta and will be available to the public later this year. You can request an invite by subscribing below.
Jason Florio is a freelance photojournalist who was born in London and resides in New York City. Photography for him is a conduit to bridge a myriad of seeming barriers, be they linguistic, age related, or ideological. In his approach the most important thing about photography is the process. It is about being in the moment and about the connection with the person or place he photographs. It is about finding a way to describe himself, and engage with humanity. His work has been recognized with a number of international awards, including The International Photography Awards - ‘People Photographer of the Year’ 2010, PX3 Gold Medal - ‘War’ 2011, and the VQR - ‘Prize for Photography’, 2013. He was the first recipient of the JGS/Aperture Foundation grant to produce Aperture’s first-ever assigned story, This is Libya. His work has been exhibited in solo presentations in the USA, Europe and China and is in a number of museum collections. Florio is a proud Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society.
