Justin James Reed’s video and photographic work primarily focuses on landscape to explore concepts of perception, representation, and experience. He studied at Temple University’s Tyler School of Art (MFA) and the Minneapolis College of Art & Design (BFA). Reed has recently exhibited in Philadelphia, Copenhagen, Sydney, Miami, Chicago, and New York City. His photographs are included in The Collector’s Guide to Emerging Art Photography Vol. 1, Flash Forward - Emerging Photographers 2011, and Capricious and Conveyor Magazine(s). Additionally, his artist book, Don’t Die, has been featured in exhibitions in Nogent-sur-Marne (France), Toronto, Portland, and Boston. His latest book, 2013, was released earlier this year by Horses Think Press and performed as part of Photobook SLAM Berlin at C/O Berlin Book Days by Anouk Kruithof. Reed is a member of the international artists collective, Piece of Cake, and an Assistant Professor of Art Foundation and Photography & Film at Virginia Commonwealth University. He lives in Richmond, Virginia.
