The start of something new — FlakPhoto Digest.
We’re developing a new project, a weekly newsletter focused on photography + visual culture recommendations carefully curated from across the Web. You know, the good stuff that deserves a closer look. FlakPhoto Digest is currently in closed beta and will be available to the public later this year. You can request an invite by subscribing below.
Lois Bielefeld grew up in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She graduated in 2002 from Rochester Institute of Technology, receiving her BFA in Advertising Photography. Soon after she made the mass migration with all the other photo graduates to New York City where she lived for seven years. After assisting photographers she began shooting commercial and fashion work. In 2008 she started The Bedroom when she shared a bedroom for one year with her eight year old daughter in their small Brooklyn apartment. In 2012 Lois completed the project with 103 total portraits in the series. She now lives in Milwaukee with her twelve year old daughter and guinea pig. She is currently a Mary Nohl Fellowship recipient and is working on a series of portraits of people who conceal carry in Wisconsin. Besides photography, Lois loves to bike, cook, eat and dabble in Midwestern things like trap shooting.
