Nick Ballon (b. 1976) grew up in England. His father, a Bolivian restauranteur and his mother an NHS chief executive from Petts Wood, may be an account for his keen eye for the incongruous. He graduated in 2001 from Berkshire School of Art and Design, and has since been published in numerous magazines like Guardian Weekend, Intelligent Life and The Independent and awarded prizes such as Foto 8 and Creative Review Photography Annual. A lot of his personal projects draw from his trips to Bolivia. The series Casa de Amor (a sequel to his Bolivian Wrestling project Viva Las Luchadoras!) depicts the sexual havens of the love garages, which provide couples with some rare privacy.
