Vasantha Yogananthan (b. 1985) is a self-taught French photographer living in Paris, France. In his long-term project Piémanson (2009-2013), he tells the story of the inhabitants of the last wild beach in France. To echo the tranquility of the place he chose to use subtle, pastel colors, breathing life into carefully composed pictures. He is particularly interested in searching new narrative and aesthetic approaches to document people's ways of living. In 2012, Yogananthan was awarded the 1st prize at the Bourse du Talent Espace (Kodak/Photographie.com) for this work. Piémanson has been exhibited at the Bibliothèque Nationale de France (Paris), at the Albert-Kahn museum (Paris), and in numerous photography festivals. Piémanson's book is expected to be released in 2014. He also started a new project in India where he will be travelling regularly over the next years.
