The start of something new — FlakPhoto Digest.
We’re developing a new project, a weekly newsletter focused on photography + visual culture recommendations carefully curated from across the Web. You know, the good stuff that deserves a closer look. FlakPhoto Digest is currently in closed beta and will be available to the public later this year. You can request an invite by subscribing below.
Website - AndyMattern.com
Andy Mattern makes photographs of familiar objects and landscapes to investigate the relationship between people and the built environment. Using place as inspiration, his projects often take the form of typological series that focus on the residue of human experience. Recently, he has explored subjects such as the chunks of dirty snow that build up on the wheel wells of cars, exhaust vents in homes, detached garages, and the hundreds of gloves accidentally lost in winter. He earned a BFA with an emphasis in photography from the University of New Mexico in 2002 and is currently teaching photography while pursuing an MFA from the University of Minnesota.
Flak Photo is an online photography channel that presents the work of artists, curators, bookmakers and photo organizations to a global audience of people who are passionate about visual culture. Interested in contributing? Click here to learn more »
