Bertrand Carrière is an photographer and video artist who actively exhibits and publishes his work across Canada and in Europe. Using time, memory and landscapes, he explores stories that are bound to the land, traces of which persist to this day. In his books Dieppe, landscapes and installations (400 coups) and Lieux Mêmes (L'Instant même), he visits parts of the history of WW1 and WW2 in France. In his latest project, Après Strand, he revisits the work of American photographer Paul Strand, following the route he took in 1929 and 1936 in the Gaspé peninsula. The catalogue of this work is published with Le Musée régional de Rimouski. Carrière’s work is included in numerous collections such as The National Gallery of Canada, Le Musée National des Beaux-Arts du Québec and The Houston Museum of Fine Arts au Texas. He teaches photography at André-Laurendeau College in Montreal.
