Deborah Hamon is a painter and a photographer. Her work for the past ten years has focused on the identity development of girls. She is interested in the interplay between reality and fiction, both in the construction of her photographs and paintings, and in the content of these images. Hamon has shown her work nationally and internationally in numerous solo and group exhibitions. In 2010 she was selected by Photo District News as one of their New and Emerging Photographers to Watch. Her work can be found in private and public collections including the Crocker Art Museum and West Collection. In the Fall of 2013, Hamon plans to take over a thousand yarn pom-poms to the Arctic as part of The Polar Pom-Pom Project – a project she created to engage elementary school children with art and the Arctic, in order to connect them directly with issues relating to climate change. Deborah Hamon was born in Adelaide, Australia and lives and works in the San Francisco Bay Area.
